D.C., DC — A Southeast, D.C. man was arrested on Friday for a shooting that killed a man in Southwest.
Roy Jordan, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder while armed.
On Nov. 20, D.C. Police officers were called to South Capitol Street Southeast, near 1st Street Southwest, around 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man who was unconscious and not breathing on the sidewalk. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Gary Lavon Love III, was taken to a hospital. He died the next morning.
In previous reporting, WUSA9 was told shortly after the incident that it was classified as a double shooting when a second man was found injured nearby. He was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital for treatment. But, according to a public information officer with D.C.. Police, the only victim of the shooting was Love.
The deadly shooting on Nov. 20 marked the 249th homicide of the year, which surpassed a 20-year record for the deadliest year in the District.
