Man dies after losing control of car during medical emergency, crashing into tree, police say

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — An investigation is underway in Ellicott City after a man was pronounced dead after a crash on Saturday morning. 

Preliminarily, police believe the victim may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision.

At 9:44 a.m., investigators say a 2015 Toyota Venza was heading south in the 6100 block of Waterloo Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. 

Police say the driver, and sole occupant, was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His identify remains unknown, 

Investigators believe the man suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of his car and crash into a tree.

The investigation into this deadly crash is active and ongoing.
