Pedestrian struck and killed in crash on Route 31 in Prince George's County

This is the third pedestrian struck and killed in Prince George's County in one week.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — An investigation is underway after a man was struck and killed at Route 301 and Marlboro Pike in Prince George’s County on Sunday, according to Maryland State Police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services personnel after getting hit leaving a gas station.  Investigators say no one in the car was injured.

Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to the area of Riggs Road and Ruatan Street around 6:20 a.m. after a report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Once at the scene, they found a woman in the roadway suffering from injuries sustained in the crash. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, but she was later pronounced dead. Her family has organized a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs.

Police informed WUSA9 that the driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene of the crash, but the collision is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. The driver was not hurt. 

On Friday morning, Kerri Snead of Virginia was struck and killed on the I-95 outer loop at Exit 9 Allentown Road just before 3 a.m. She was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Maryland State Police. Investigators say she was on the highway after her car broke down.

Investigators believe Snead was traveling south on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway when her car began having a mechanical issue. Snead, another person and a dog got out of the car and attempted to cross the highway. Snead and the dog were struck and killed. The other person was not hurt.
