Pedestrian struck, killed in Prince George's County crash

Police identified the woman killed as 54-year-old Rosa Guzman of Adelphi.

ADELPHI, Md. — A crash in Adelphi, Maryland has left a pedestrian dead Tuesday morning, and has sparked an investigation into what led to the deadly event.

Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to the area of Riggs Road and Ruatan Street around 6:23 a.m. after a report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Once at the scene, they found a woman in the roadway suffering from injuries sustained in the crash. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead not long after.

Police informed WUSA9 that the driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene of the crash, but the collision is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.

A preliminary investigation found that the driver of a minivan was on Riggs Road when he struck the woman, later identified as 54-year-old Rosa Guzman of Adelphi. The driver of the minivan was not hurt. 

Investigators continue to investigate the deadly crash and ask the public to come forward with any information relevant to their investigation.
