CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Saturday will mark two weeks since anyone has reported seeing Jamell Leeheung II and two weeks of his family trying to make any sense of the mystery around his disappearance.
"He was a good husband. A good guy," said his father Jamell Leeheung I. "Old teachers, old supervisors in the military, everyone has reached out to me and told me how great of a guy my son is, and I hope that we find him and hope for a good outcome."
He says on November 25, his son had gone out for the night and was on the phone with his sister just an hour before getting in his car to go home to the Indian Head Naval Base where the Army Veteran works and lives. He says his son seemed fine on the phone, but at the base, he was turned away because of serious damage to his car.
"It's so random and there's nothing of it makes sense that I can't form any opinions or theories," said Leeheung I.
Days later his son's car was pulled from the water in nearby Mattawoman Creek. But, no sign of Jamell Leeheung II.
"Just to watch his sisters, you know, try to live life right now without him is heartbreaking," he said. "And, especially my grandson....he really adores and admires his dad."
Saturday morning the search will continue. Specialized K9 crews and volunteers are expected to join a massive canvassing of the area near where his car was found.
"It means a lot knowing that he's getting the help and the attention that he deserves," said Leeheung I. "I'm scared that after a while, if we don't find him we're going to lose some of that."
He says so many people have offered to help from around the country that he's had to tell some of his friends to stay home.
He's hoping his son, who has a disability, may turn up at a hospital. Anyone who sees or knows anything is asked to call the Charles County Sheriff's Department.
