2 officers injured, 1 person in custody after stealing and crashing Fairfax County Police car

After taking the vehicle, the suspect crashed into another police cruiser.

FAIRFAX, Va. — The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating after they say a suspect stole a police cruiser in the Fair Oaks Shopping Center and later crashed it.

It happened around 11:35 a.m. Police said someone stole the police car and then crashed into another police vehicle. 

Two officers and the suspect were injured but they're expected to be OK.

The suspect(s) involved in this case have not yet been identified.

According to police scanners obtained by WUSA9, officers reported the crash and said "we need rescue."

Westbound Government Center Parkway at Post Forest Drive in Fair Oaks was closed for the investigation.
