WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A man is facing charges after he shot a gun toward the sky in Woodbridge Sunday evening. The shooting was connected to what appears to have been a game of Ding-Dong Ditch.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers were called to the 12600 block of Castile Court shortly after 7:15 p.m. to investigate the report of gunfire in the area.

Investigators say the homeowner stepped outside of his home and fired a round from a handgun into the sky.

Officers learned before the homeowner fired off the round, two people, believed to have been juveniles, had rang the doorbell and knocked on the door before running away.

No injuries or property damage was reported. The 41-year-old homeowner has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm and was released on a court summons.

Anyone with information may contact the Prince William County Police Department at 703-792-7000.
