GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Two teenage boys, ages 14 and 16, have been arrested for an armed robbery in Gaithersburg back in January. The 14-year-old boy was in possession of two loaded ghost guns when he was arrested, police said.
Montgomery County Police officers were called to the 8900 block of Centerway Road for a report of a robbery on Jan. 29 around 3:40 p.m. A preliminary investigation found that a man was leaving a McDonald's restaurant in the 9100 block of Rothbury Drive when he noticed two boys walking toward him. The boys caught up to him and stole his sweatshirt and sneakers before running away.
Detectives identified both boys and arrested them on Tuesday, March 12, police said. The 14-year-old boy was charged with robbery and handgun-related charges. The 16-year-old boy was charged with robbery.
Both boys have been released to their guardians, according to police.
