Police arrest a third suspect connected to deadly shooting on Lost Knife Circle

Hernandez is the third suspect arrested in connection with the death of 22-year-old Alan Garnica.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County Police have taken a man into custody and charged him with first-degree murder.

Rodrigo Hernandez, 18, was taken into custody on Thursday. An arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday for his arrest. Hernandez is the third suspect arrested in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Alan Garnica.

On November 10, officers responded to the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle for a shooting. While officers were at the scene, they received calls about another shooting that had taken place one block away.

When law enforcement arrived, they found an 18-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Moments later, officers returned to the scene and they found Garnica unconscious with a gunshot wound. Garnica was pronounced dead at the scene.

On November 21, 19-year-old Kenes Yair Guevara and 20-year-old Osman Antonio Maldonado were arrested for their involvement in the shooting. All three men are now being held without bond.
