DC man arrested for shooting at a driver who confronted him about running a stop sign

At the time of the shooting, the man arrested was under 18.

WASHINGTON — DC Police detectives say they have made an arrest in a September road rage shooting in Northeast. At the time of the shooting, the man arrested was under the age of 18.

On Sept. 20, just before 4 p.m. a driver attempted to confront the man about running a stop sign in the 5800 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, Northeast. That's near HD Woodson High School and Marivin Gaye Park.

The shooter got out of his vehicle, flashing a gun. According to police, the other driver got back in their car and left, but the arrested man followed them. He once again got out of his car, this time shooting at the other driver. Police say the driver was not hurt, but their vehicle was damaged.

On Wednesday, Dec. 13, officers arrested an 18-year-old man for the frightening confrontation. The shooter, who was not identified by police, faces a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Police offered no additional details about the case.
