SILVER SPRING, Md. — Almost exactly a month after a man was shot dead outside America's Best Wings in Silver Spring, police say they have arrested the man wanted for the crime. Another person was also shot and critically injured.
According to Montgomery County homicide detectives, 33-year-old Markus Tyrell Dowdy was arrested in Takoma Park on Saturday, by the United States Marshals, Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force for allegedly shooting and killing 34-year-old Marvin Jefferson of Silver Spring.
Dowdy is accused of shooting Jefferson to death on Nov. 4, following a fight outside the restaurant in the White Oak Shopping Center. Another man was also shot. He was hospitalized with serious injuries immediately following the shooting, but has since been released.
Through the course of the investigation, Montgomery County major crimes detectives identified Dowdy as a suspect. A warrant issued for his arrest charged him with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and other related charges.
Dowdy is being held in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit while awaiting a bond hearing.
