Infant and 4-year-old seriously injured in separate Maryland crashes

Two car crashes within 90 minutes injured two young children who were both taken to local hospitals.

MARYLAND, USA — Two separate car crashes in Maryland Friday evening left young children seriously injured. 

Anne Arundel Police said a two-car crash in Laurel around 9:30 p.m. injured a four-year-old boy, who was taken to the hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter. It is unknown yet whether he was ejected from a car, or hit by a car. 

The crash happened on MD-198 at Russett Green. 

Around 7:58 p.m. in Bowie, Prince George's County Police said a two-car crash left two people critically injured, including an infant; both were transported the the hospital. 

The crash happened in the 10517 block of Lake Arbor Way.  One car was overturned and another was smoking, police said.

A third Maryland crash killed a pedestrian Friday. Prince George's County police said an adult man was killed after being hit by a car in the 5600 block of Coolidge Street in Capitol Heights around 5:30 p.m. CPR was administered, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stayed on the scene. 

Eastbound Central Avenue between Davey Street and Coolidge Street was closed following the crash. Police are investigating what led to the crash.
