BOWIE, Md. — Firefighters with the Prince George’s County Fire Department battled a fire in Bowie on Thursday after a house went up in flames.
WUSA9's chopper flew over the scene, where you could see smoke coming from the second story of the home on Homestake Drive South. Crews had ladders and multiple trucks on the scene working to contain the fire.
The fire has since been put out, but one firefighter did sustain injuries.
The firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. There is no word on his current condition.
Meanwhile, the team on the scene searched the house for any occupants, but the house was empty.
The Prince George’s Fire Department also reported a collision with one of their trucks. The first crew sent out to respond to the fire crashed into another car along Greenbelt Road.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported there was only property damage.
An investigation into what caused the fire has been launched.
