Firefighters pluck injured worker from DC rooftop

Firefighters used a crane to get the worker to the ground.

WASHINGTON — DC firefighters used a crane to rescue a worker from a rooftop under construction in Northwest Tuesday morning. 

Crews were dispatched to the 600 block of Park Road Northwest, near Hook Hall, to conduct the rescue just before 8 a.m. Using a crane and a basket called a stokes, the injured worker was successfully lowered four stories to the ground. A firefighter rode down with the injured worker. 

It is not clear how the worker was injured. Firefighters described the injuries as not life-threatening. Video from the scene shows the worker making it to the ground and being loaded into a waiting ambulance. The worker's current condition is not known. 

Additional details were not immediately available.
