Man found dead inside of car near Deanwood Metro Station identified, police search for shooter

A preliminary investigation revealed that the two gunshot victims were traveling down Minnesota Ave in a stolen Kia.

WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are still investigating a fatal shooting from Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue in Northeast near the Deanwood Metro Station, to assist Metro Transit Police with reports of a shooting. When officers arrived they found a teen suffering from gunshot wounds.

A short time later, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a nearby car. The man has been identified as 19-year-old Tyreek Sheldon Moore.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene not long after being found. The teen was taken to an area hospital for help.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the two gunshot victims were traveling down Minnesota Ave in a stolen Kia. The shooter pulled up beside the Kia and opened fire. On Tuesday, police recovered the car used in the shooting.

Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information is asked to call at 202-727-9099.
