Armed robbery victim who tried to escape by Metrobus gets shot at, police say no one hurt

Fortunately, no one was injured but a Metrobus was damaged as a result of the shooting.

WASHINGTON — An investigation is underway in Southwest, D.C. after a victim was robbed at gunpoint aboard a Metrobus and then shot at. 

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the shooting. The Metrobus involved was damaged.

Detectives say the incident began off the bus as an attempted robbery in the 4500 block of First Street, SE at 12:29 p.m. The victim ran to the Metrobus to escape, but was followed by the suspects. After boarding the bus, the suspects were able to take the victim's property. The suspects then got off the bus and began to fire a gun several times at the bus before getting into another car and leaving the scene.

The bus driver and all customers aboard the bus at the time of the shooting were not injured. 

The investigation into this armed robbery and shooting is active and ongoing.

Police have not identified any suspects or said how many are believed to be involved.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
