Southeast DC shooting leaves man dead

Officers say they are on the lookout for a blue Infiniti, last seen fleeing the scene, in connection with this shooting.

WASHINGTON — An investigation is underway in Southeast, D.C. after a man was shot and killed Tuesday night.

A call came into the Metropolitan Police Department at 9:02 p.m. regarding a shooting in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Junior Avenue, SE. At the scene, officers found a man who had been shot. He was not found conscious or breathing. 

Police informed WUSA9 early Wednesday that the shooting has now been classified as a homicide. 

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Raymond Leon Ballard, of Southeast, D.C.

The investigation into this shooting is active and ongoing. 

Officers say they are on the lookout for a blue Infiniti, last seen fleeing the scene, in connection with this shooting.

DC Police is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to and arrest and conviction. Anyone with information about the case can call 202-727-9099.
