Man held at gunpoint gets dog and sneakers stolen in Southeast while out on a walk

The victim described the dog stolen to officers as a brown and tan Doberman puppy.

WASHINGTON — A D.C. family is asking for the community’s help locating their fur baby after being robbed at gunpoint.

MPD is searching for the suspects that stole the dog in the 300 block of Anacostia Road, Southeast Tuesday afternoon.  

At 3 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding an armed robbery in progress. When they arrived at the scene, they found a shoeless victim who claimed his dog was stolen. 

The victim told officers he was walking his dog when multiple robbers approached him. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and they demanded he give up his puppy and sneakers. 

Reports did not give any details on the type of sneakers that were stolen. But, the victim did describe his dog to police as a brown and tan Doberman puppy.

The suspects can be seen on camera holding the puppy on nearby surveillance cameras. 

Anyone who can identify these suspects or has any information about this armed robbery should call police at (202) 727-9099 or text the tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
