D.C., DC — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a series of violent crimes across D.C. Saturday night into Sunday morning.
In less than 24 hours, there were four shootings and assault with a knife, leaving one man dead and multiple people hospitalized.
At 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to a shooting that happened in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast. A man was rushed to an area hospital where he died, according to investigators. He was later identified as 34-year-old Daniel Lamont Adams, of Southeast, D.C.
Nearly 30 minutes later, at 9:38 p.m., officers responded to another reported shooting in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue, Southeast. One man and one woman, both conscious and breathing, were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment after being found at the scene.
At 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a reported assault with a knife in the 3000 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. At the scene, officers found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was conscious and breathing.
Early on Sunday at 2:15 a.m., police say four people were shot in the 1600 block of 7th Street, Northwest. Two women were taken to an area hospital for treatment from the scene. One man involved in the shooting walked into a hospital, and another man was found at a hospital.
It was previously reported the shooting occurred on 9th Street, but a spokesperson for D.C. Police later confirmed the shooting was on 7th Street. Police are looking for a 2015 Volkswagen with Maryland tags and the license plate number 3DW8853 in connection to this shooting.
At 4 a.m. Sunday morning, there was another reported shooting in the 1800 block of N Street, Northwest. One man, conscious and breathing, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. D.C. Police posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they are looking for a black Corvette in connection to the shooting.
