WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after a shooting in Southeast, D.C. involving three people, two of whom were Special Police Officers (SPOs).
Around 8:30 p.m.two SPOs on duty in the 800 block of Southern Avenue were asked to help remove a man in his car from a location he was prohibited from entering. The suspect drove his car forward and hit one of the SPOs. The second SPO fired his gun, shooting his own hand, as well as the suspect.
Both the suspect and Special Police Officer were taken to the hospital for treatment; they are expected to survive their injuries.
DC Police arrested Tyshawn Wilson, of SE and charged the 30-year-old with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Motor Vehicle), Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Unlawful Entry, and two counts of Fugitive from Justice.
The officers who responded to the scene were wearing bodycams and that footage is currently under review, according to MPD.
