ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — Police say an officer was seriously injured when a tractor-trailer struck the back of an unmarked Anne Arundel County Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle on Interstate 97S Monday morning.
According to Anne Arundel County Police, the collision happened around 8:15 a.m. when the police vehicle and a Chevrolet pick-up truck were slowly moving due to traffic. Police say the tractor-trailer failed to stop and hit the police vehicle from behind, pushing it into the pick-up truck.
The officer was seriously injured in the crash and taken to a trauma center by the Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter. The officer is currently listed to be in stable condition.
Police claim the drivers of the tractor-trailer and the Chevrolet pickup truck were also injured in the crash. Both are expected to be okay.
Police say alcohol and/or drug usage is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
