DC Police search for person responsible for carjacking Uber who was picking up customer

The driver was working as an Uber driver when they were carjacked.

WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department are asking for the public's help identifying a carjacking suspect. 

On Sunday, at 8 p.m., a rideshare driver working for Uber pulled up to a location in the 1000 block of Anacostia Road, Southeast to pick up a passenger. At the scene, a suspect pulled out a long gun and aimed it at the driver, demanding they get out of the car. A second suspect then got in the driver's seat, and the other suspect fled the scene.

Anyone who can identify this person or who has knowledge of the carjacking should call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the department's text tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
