WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are searching for the man who carjacked his rideshare driver.

The victim told police on Tuesday, she was experiencing some issues with her tires. So, upon completing the ride in Southeast she asked her passenger if he could help her fix it. Little did she know, this simple request for help would spark an opportunity for the passenger.

The passenger was willing and agreed to help with the car issue. The pair got out of the car, with the intention of examining the tire issue. When, without warning, the passenger pushed the driver to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, the passenger hopped in the driver’s seat and sped away leaving the driver on the ground, dazed and confused.

The car was last seen going up 6th Street, S.E. towards Atlantic Street.

Officers are searching for the stolen black Toyota Rav4 and the carjacker. If you have any information about the carjacking or the suspect, call police at (202) 727-9099. For those who wish to remain anonymous text the number 50411.
