WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a shooting in Southeast D.C. that left a teenage girl injured on Sunday.
Monday morning, the 7D DC Police watch commander said the girl is 17 years old.
At 6:28 p.m., a call about the shooting came into the Metropolitan Police Department. Detectives say the shooting occurred in the 2700 block of Langston Place SE.
The watch commander said the teen was found injured in a stolen car, but an incident report does not say whether the car was stolen. According to the report, the 17-year-old girl and someone else were unloading the vehicle when two unknown people approached and started shooting.
The girl who was shot was rushed to an area hospital from a fire station located in the 3100 block of 24th Street Southeast with non-life-threatening injuries.
The firehouse is about a 10 minute walk from the block where the shooting happened.
They also have not released her identity, per DC protocol to protect juveniles injured in shootings.
An incident report says police discovered 30 shell casings at the scene.
Police have not provided any information on any possible suspects or person(s) of interest in connection to this shooting.
The investigation into this shooting is active and ongoing.
