Science on the Mall: Young students conduct experiments on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial

Students from the John Francis Education Campus took learning out of the classroom and onto the National Mall.

WASHINGTON — We are getting uplifted by young, budding scientists soaring to new heights! We all know how important STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, technology and math) is to young minds.

Now, a group of students Northwest D.C. has taken what they learned in the classroom to the great outdoors. The 6th grade scholars braved cold temperatures and took their science class outside to the National Mall, right on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

There, they learned to launch tiny rockets and create a cloud in a bucket.

The students are from the John Francis Education Campus in D.C. The Center for Science and Technology let a whole slew of exciting experiments with the goal of sparking students' interest in STEAM fields.

It looks like that mission was accomplished. We are inspired and uplifted by these students' curiosity and innovation.
