WASHINGTON — As snow continues to fall on Friday, it's important to make sure the fire hydrants near your home are clear of snow and ice, local fire and rescue service teams say.
Keeping snow off from and around hydrants allows fire crews to work quickly in case of an emergency.
Snow and ice should be removed within a 3-foot perimeter of the hydrant. It's also advised that a path is shoveled to the fire hydrant so firefighters can access it if needed.
