Metrobus limits services on Friday due to snow

Metro announced Friday morning that Metrobus is operating on a "Moderate Snow Plan." Here's what that means.

WASHINGTON — As another round of winter weather moves in, Metro has announced Metrobus services will be limited on Friday.

Metro announced Friday morning that Metrobus is operating on a "Moderate Snow Plan." Under this plan, some bus routes will be suspended and some buses will detour. To get the details on which routes are altered or cancelled, click here

Metro advises people to only travel if necessary and to expect delays. When waiting for the bus, people are advised to wait on the sidewalk instead of the street if snow is blocking the curb.

Metrorail is expected to operate on a normal Friday schedule. Metro says the system is designed to handle moderate amounts of snow without impact on service.

De-icer trains will be available to treat tracks and clear snow and heat tape will be deployed to keep switches and key components clear.

MetroAccess will operate normally, but delays are possible based on road conditions throughout the area.
