How much snow fell in the DMV Friday?

Early Friday, some areas were already reporting three inches of powder or more.

WASHINGTON — Snow fell swiftly in the D.C. region Friday morning and into the afternoon, and a new daily snowfall record was even set at one of the airports. 

Dulles International Airport reported 4.9 inches of snow on the ground, which surpassed the previous daily record of 4.3" in 1978. 

Here's a look at some of the snow accumulation totals as of 3 p.m. across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. 

  • Four Corners, MD - 6.0"
  • Arcola, VA - 5.1"
  • Gaithersburg, MD - 5.1"
  • Leesburg, VA - 5.0"
  • Dulles International, VA - 4.9" (new daily snowfall record)
  • Herndon, VA - 4.3"
  • Damascus, MD - 4.2"
  • Bowie, MD - 4.0"
  • Olney, MD - 4.0"
  • North Potomac, MD - 3.6"
  • Bethesda, MD - 3.5"
  • Gaithersburg, MD - 3.4"
  • Colesville, MD - 3.1"
  • Vienna, VA - 2.8"
  • Manassas, VA - 2.4"
  • Falls Church, VA - 2.1"
  • Alexandria, VA - 1.8"
  • Waldorf, MD - 1.5"
  • Warrenton, VA - 1.5"

Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings are in place across the DMV until 7 p.m. Snow will gradually taper off after 8 p.m.

This follows Tuesday's winter storm, where some areas of our region saw as much as 6 inches of snow. It was the first measurable snowfall in the DMV region in two years.
