I-66 crash slows morning commute in Fairfax County

The cause of the crash is still under investigation

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A crash on Interstate 66 has westbound lanes blocked in Fairfax County Tuesday morning. Drivers should expect delays for the crash investigation.

Traffic officials say at least one person was hurt in the crash, first reported around 6 a.m. on westbound I-66 at mile marker 57. That's just east of Fairfax County Parkway Exit 55.

As of 6:30 a.m., two left general purpose lanes are blocked and all ramp lanes to the Express Lanes are blocked. Delays are building in the area. Use alternate routes if possible.

Police are still investigating what led up to the crash. While officials have said at least one person is hurt, it is not yet clear how many cars were involved, how many people were hurt or the severity of their injuries.
