FAIRFAX, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating after a woman was killed and another woman was injured in a wrong-way crash early Saturday morning in Fairfax County.

At 2:07 a.m. on Saturday, investigators say a 2013 Toyota Prius was heading south in the northbound Express Lanes when it struck a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze heading north head-on. The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to spin around, run off the left side of the roadway, and strike a cement wall. The driver of the Prius, Annette M. Ozaltin, 44, of McLean, Virginia, was taken to an area hospital for treatment where police say she later died. Officers say she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet, Stephanie Leiva, 34, of Dumfries, Virginia, was also rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash as well.

Investigators have not said what led up in the moments before or what caused the crash. No contributing factors have been identified so far.

The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing.
