Two vehicle collision leaves one car off the ground, two injured

Because of the nature of the crash, the department requested the Technical Rescue units to stabilize the cars.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A car was found completely off of the ground after crashing into a van in Fairfax County Wednesday night.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to the crash at the intersection of Roberts Road and Collingham Drive in the Kings Park West area.

A photograph shared by the fire department shows the two cars entangled. The van is on the ground on its side, and the car is completely off the ground, in the other side of the van.

According to officials, the car was speeding and lost control. It crashed into and embedded itself in the side of the van, which was stopped at a stop sign. The momentum of the collision pushed the van on its side, taking the embedded car with it.

Because of the nature of the collision, the department requested the Technical Rescue units to stabilize the cars.

Officials said hazmat crews responded to the scene because the van was carrying pool supply chemicals that spilled on the street. It has since been cleaned up.

Two people were injured in the crash. Both were transported to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.

One person posted that they witnessed the crash before rescue teams arrived in a response to Fairfax Fire and Rescue on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Wow. I passed this crash scene just after it must have happened,  before rescue vehicles arrived. I couldn’t believe my eyes for a second. I hope all involved can make a full recovery, it was the scariest looking crash I’ve ever seen with the one car up in the air like that,” user Eliz posted.

The area of Roberts Road and Collingham Drive is residential.
