Pedestrian injured after being struck by bus in Annandale

The bus involved in the crash has been confirmed to be a Metrobus.

ANNANDALE, Va. — A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a bus in Fairfax County late Monday night.

Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) responded to Little River Turnpike and Hummer Road in Annandale after a report of a bus crash involving a pedestrian, according to a social media post made at 10:39 p.m. by the department. Upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from serious injuries sustained in the crash, and she was taken to a hospital to be treated.

Police informed WUSA9 that as of Tuesday morning the woman injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The bus involved in the crash has been confirmed to be a Metrobus. During the time of the initial investigation, the eastbound lanes on Little River Turnpike were closed at Hummer Road, causing delays for commuters. It's not clear yet if lanes have reopened.

No additional information has been released about the collision, including the names of those involved, or what might have happened leading up to the event. The police department's Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
