CLIFTON, Va. — A man is dead after a two-vehicle crash that happened nearby a Clifton intersection early Tuesday.
Officers with the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) responded to the area of Clifton Road and Lee Highway after a report of a car crash, according to social media post made just before 1:20 a.m. by the department. Upon arrival, they found one driver suffering from injuries sustained, and he was pronounced dead at the location.
The other driver involved in the crash was taken to the hospital to be treated for their critical injuries. Authorities say they remain hospitalized, but their condition is no longer considered to be life-threatening.
The intersection of Clifton Road and Lee Highway remained closed for an extended period of time Tuesday morning while FCPD's Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated the collision. Commuters were advised to avoid the area during the investigation, and to expect delays. The lanes have since be reopened.
The identities of those involved in the crash have been released, this includes their names, ages, and where they are from. In addition, no details have been released about any potential causes for the deadly crash.
