1 dead in Upper Marlboro crash involving 5 cars

The cause of the crash is still under investigation

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — At least one person is dead after a crash involving five vehicles in Upper Marlboro Monday morning. Four other people have been hospitalized as a result of the crash, police say. 

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Route 301 at Village Drive, according to Maryland State Police investigators. Five people were taken to the hospital once officers arrived, and one person, only identified as a man, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

It is not yet clear how the crash happened. Route 301 in Upper Marlboro is closed due to the crash investigation. It is not clear how long the road will be closed to traffic. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
