GREENBELT, Md. — Two people are in the hospital after a crash that shut down all southbound lanes of traffic on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway early Monday morning. One person was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and another with non-life threatening injuries, according to United States Park Police.
The crash happened on I-295 past the Capital Beltway in Greenbelt at 3:15 a.m., according to traffic officials. Traffic was diverted to the Capital Beltway, causing delays during the morning commute.
Police are still investigating what led to the crash. It’s unclear how long lanes will be closed, but drivers should expect a lengthy closure, and delays in the area for the morning commute.
According to traffic officials, the crash involved one vehicle and one pedestrian. Lanes were closed for several hours for the crash investigation. By 8:30 a.m. all lanes had reopened to traffic.
