WASHINGTON — Gonzaga College High School played St. John's College High School for WUSA9's Game of the Week. A close game that saw St. John's win 20-17.
The Gonzaga Eagles (5-5) and St. John's Cadets (9-0) are both D.C. prep schools and it was the 100th matchup all-time between these two teams.
The all-time record is Gonzaga 48 – St John's 47 – and five ties. The football teams first played each other in 1893
Both teams are in the same league and sit roughly eight miles from each other.
St. John's is 5-2 in its last seven matchups against Gonzaga, which includes two playoff games won by the Cadets over its rival.
It’s the 200th anniversary of Gonzaga College High School this year.
