Howard University will play in the Cricket Celebration Bowl this weekend in front of a special guest, VP Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris will attend the Cricket Celebration Bowl to cheer on her alma mater, Howard University.

WASHINGTON — The Vice President and second gentleman are heading to Atlanta this weekend to cheer on the Bison in the Celebration Bowl.

On Saturday, VP Kamala Harris and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff will pack into the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta to watch Howard University go head-to-head against Florida A&M University.

This is the eighth annual national championship football game celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Howard's football team was sent off on Wednesday, with the band playing, cheerleaders cheering, and the entire community rallied behind them wishing them luck.

Howard defeated Morgan State University last month in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference Championship. This was monumental for the university because it was the first time in 30 years that they won the title outright. In 2022, Howard had to share the title with North Carolina Central.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 16 at noon and will air on ABC. The team is scheduled to return promptly after the game Saturday night.
