WASHINGTON — The countdown to kickoff begins!

Howard University’s football team is in Atlanta, Georgia to play in the Cricket Celebration Bowl.

Howard will go head-to-head with Florida A&M University, on Saturday at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

The band was playing, the cheerleaders were kicking, and everyone was in high spirits as the community rallied at the university to send the Bison off.

Howard defeated Morgan State University last month in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference Championship. This was monumental for the university because it was the first time in 30 years that they won the title outright. In 2022, Howard had to share the title with North Carolina Central.

This is the eighth annual Cricket Celebration Bowl, but it’s the first time in school history that Howard will compete. The Celebration Bowl was created to celebrate the heritage, legacy, pageantry, and traditions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 16 and will air on ABC. The team is scheduled to return promptly after the game Saturday night.
