DUMFRIES, Va. — A Dumfries resident got a rude awakening on Thursday morning. They were sleeping in their bed when they were awoken by gunfire. Police say the homeowner found a bullet hole in the headboard of their bed.
The homeowner called Prince William County Police, who responded to the 2700 block of Myrtlewood Drive just after 6 a.m. Investigators recovered a bullet fragment in the headboard.
Police said no injuries were reported, and there was no additional property damage. Investigators are still searching for who fired the shot.
