Police identify man found shot inside car identified as 18-year-old

No details have been released about a possible person of interest in the deadly shooting case.

FAIRMOUNT, Md. — A late Tuesday night shooting left a man dead in Fairmount, sparking a homicide investigation.

Officers with the Prince George's County Police Department responded to Sheriff Road, nearby Eastern Avenue Northeast, as well as the D.C.-Maryland state line around 11:20 p.m. after a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.

He was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, but he was pronounced dead a short time later. The man killed has since been identified as 18-year-old Olamide Olakanye of Upper Marlboro. 

While detectives do not believe the shooting to be a random crime, no details have been released about a person of interest in the case.
