Two teens were robbed and carjacked during a shoe sale, now police say 1 of the teens was involved the whole time

Police arrested one of the teens saying the shoe sale was a ruse used to lure the teen to the area and rob him.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 16-year-old boy is facing charges after police say he lured another teen with lies about a shoe transaction to rob and carjack the teen last week.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, the robbery happened at Gunsmith Terrace and Old Landing Way near Freedom High School in Woodbridge on Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they were told two teens were conducting a shoe sale when a stranger suddenly approached them, implied he had a gun, and robbed the teens. The stranger then drove away in one of the teen's cars, which was later found to have crashed into the back of a school bus.

Two days later, police arrested one of the teens saying the shoe sale was a ruse used to lure the teen to the area and rob him.

The 16-year-old has been charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony. He is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

As for the stranger, police continue to search for the man, described as being about 20 years old, standing 5-foot-11 and last seen wearing a black mask and a black jacket with fur on the hood.

The investigation remains active as detectives attempt to identify the other individuals involved in the incident. Anyone with information may contact Prince William County Police at 703-792-7000.
