Shots fired outside Falls Church shelter, police say

Police took one person in custody for shooting at another man during an argument.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Police in Falls Church are still working to figure out how an argument ended with shots being fired outside a homeless shelter Wednesday evening. The person who fired the shots has been taken into custody, police said.

Officers were called to the Bailey's Shelter on Seminary Road in Falls Church around 5 p.m. for a reported shooting. Once on scene, an investigation found that a man was involved in some kind of altercation in the shelter's parking lot. The man fired two shots at another man, who was not hit. Neither man was identified by police.

Two shell casings and a gun were recovered from the scene, according to police. Investigators are still trying to learn how the altercation started.
