WASHINGTON — Police have charged a third man in connection to a shooting that left a 10-year-old girl dead on Mother's Day in 2023.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 24-year-old Charles Edward Owens was arrested on Monday. He was charged with first-degree murder while armed. He was already in custody at the DC Jail when he was charged.
Owens is the third man charged with killing 10-year-old Arianna Davis, who was riding in the backseat of a car while celebrating Mother's Day with her family, when their car was "trapped in a barrage of gunfire" along Hayes Street, Northeast. Arianna was hit by a stray bullet in the head. Her family drove to a nearby DC Fire and EMS station, where first responders then took her to an area hospital.
