WASHINGTON — Police say seven out of eight American Bulldog puppies stolen in Southeast, D.C. on Saturday have been found safe thanks to a community member. Officers are still searching for the last missing puppy.
After 1 p.m. on Saturday, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 1700 block of U Street for a carjacking and theft. At the scene, the victim told officers the events that led up to the theft.
She told police that she was getting ready to transport the puppies in her car, which was parked in an alley behind the address listed above. She turned the car on, loaded the puppies inside, and then went back into the house for no more than a couple of minutes. When she came back outside, the car and pups were gone.
Police say her car was recovered on Sunday, but the puppies remained missing. As of Sunday night, seven out of eight puppies have been found. Police are still searching for the last missing puppy.
