Wife of missing Army veteran pleads for information as search continues in Charles County

Kayla LeeHeung is asking anyone who has information about her husband, Jamell LeeHeung II, who was last seen Nov. 25, to come forward.

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Specialized units from the Charles County Dive Rescue team, K9 crews and volunteers spent Saturday searching for 25-year old Jamell LeeHeung II, the man who has been missing for exactly two weeks.

His wife Kayla held back tears as she pled for him to come home.

"I love you so much. If you’re out there, please come home," she said. "It’s not a holiday without you. Life without you is horrible. So if you’re out there, please come home. You’re loved by so many people."

LeeHeung was last seen Nov. 25, according to his father, when he went out for the night and was on the phone with his sister before getting in his car to go home to the Indian Head Naval Base where the Army Veteran lives and works.

Just last Monday, the Charles County Dive Rescue team found LeeHeung's vehicle submerged in Mattawoman Creek near Slavin's Dock in Indian Head. However, LeeHeung was not there, giving his father hope that he's still out there somewhere.

"My mind went to dad mode again and try to find him. We still have hope," he explained.

Meanwhile, Kayla said her 5-year-old son is trying to understand why dad isn't home.

"He’s starting to cry at night because daddy’s not here, so it’s been tough," she explained. "His dad is his best friend. That’s his right hand man, his wingman. For him to not see daddy right now is taking a toll on him slowly like he’s starting to understand."

While Kayla doesn't understand why her husband is missing, she is holding onto hope because she knows how resilient he is.

"He is my superhero. Going through this tough time, I always looked at my husband as my superhero and like he was invincible, so I’m still praying that he is that invincible man, that he will be found," she said.

She is hoping anyone who knows him or has seen him will come forward.

"This is the love of my life. I’ve been with him since I was a teenager, and I really need answers right now," she said. "Because this is my real life, this is not a game, this is not for fake. I need answers."

LeeHeung is described as being 6-foot-2 and weighing around 162 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Bringley at 301-609-6499. Charles County Crime Solvers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of a person responsible for a crime in Charles County.
