Police arrest teen for alleged involvement in a Montgomery Co. shooting

The shooter was immediately placed under arrest, during which time officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in his possession.

MARYLAND, USA — Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged a teenager for a shooting that took place in August.

On Tuesday, August 1, a group of people got into a shootout on November Circle in Silver Spring, Maryland. According to investigators, the shootout happened between a group of four and a single person. Police have not said if anyone involved in a juvenile. 

When the shooting began, the lone shooter was seen fleeing the scene in a gray Honda Accord. While the other four fled on foot, running towards the White Oak Recreation Center. 

No injuries were reported from this shooting.

On Friday, November 3, officers were doing a routine patrol along Stewart Lane, when they noticed a black Toyota Rav4 commit multiple traffic violations. 

When officers pulled the car over, they recognized one of the passengers as one of the suspects from the August shooting. The shooter was immediately placed under arrest, during which time officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in his possession.

This gave law enforcement probable cause to search the vehicle. Officers recovered two additional loaded handguns and large amounts of marijuana. 

The other six passengers were placed under arrest and charged with possession of firearm related charges.

According to officers, all seven are underage and were taken to a juvenile detention center.
