SILVER SPRING, Md. — Montgomery County Police detectives are looking for two groups of people who opened fire on each other in broad daylight last month. Surveillance video released this week shows the terrifying incident unfold in the middle of a Silver Spring neighborhood.
The shooting happened right around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the 1000 block of Ruatan Street, just about a mile away from New Hampshire Estates Elementary School.
Investigators have learned that there was an exchange of gunfire in front of an apartment building on Ruatan Street. After the shooting, one group left the scene on foot toward Quebec Terrace, while the other group left from the rear of the building and drove away in a white Honda Civic that had tinted windows, a white rear spoiler and black rims.
Surveillance video released by detectives show bystanders in the neighborhood when shots rang out. No injuries were reported, according to police.
A large number of shell casings were recovered from the scene.
In all, police are looking for seven people in connection to this shooting, several of them wearing hoodies and ski masks. Detectives are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for anyone who may have information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
