Pedestrian killed after being hit by car in Silver Spring

Police originally reported that the victim was hit by two cars but have since learned only one car was involved.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Police say a pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car in Montgomery County. 

On Tuesday, Montgomery County Fire and EMS teams were dispatched to the 9500 block of Georgia Avenue just after 8 p.m. for the reported collision.

It happened along the northbound lanes of Georgia Avenue and Flora Lane. Preliminary reports show the pedestrian was hit by the driver of a 2020 Honda CR-V also driving north on Georgia Ave. The driver stayed at the scene. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified by police as 27-year-old Khalid Shakir Scriven, of Gaithersburg.

Police originally reported that the victim was hit by two cars but have since learned only one car was involved.
