WASHINGTON — A portion of New York Avenue in Northwest, D.C. is shut down at North Capital Street for a report of shots fired.
Westbound New York Avenue between First and North Capitol Streets were closed for the investigation Tuesday afternoon. The road has since reopened.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the area earlier in the afternoon after getting a report of the sound of gunshots in the area.
So far, no injuries have been reported as a result of the shooting.
MPD is investigating the unlawful discharge of a firearm.
The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.
