WALDORF, Md. — Maryland State Police are asking witnesses to step forward after a man driving a motorcycle was killed Friday evening when a car pulled out in front of him on the highway.

At 7:48 p.m. on Friday, troopers responded to a reported crash between a Chevrolet and motorcycle on U.S. Route 301, south of Acton Lane in Waldorf.

Due to the seriousness of the crash, the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack requested a Collision Reconstruction Specialist (CRS) to assume the investigation.

An initial investigation by troopers reveals that a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 28-year-old David Moore, of Upper Marlboro, was attempting to turn left into the Berkley Square Shopping Center from southbound U.S. 301 at the same time a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 33-year-old Kevin Thompson of Brandywine, was traveling northbound.

Investigators say the Chevrolet failed to yield to oncoming traffic while trying to make the left turn and pulled in front of a Harley Davidson. The motorcyclist subsequently crashed into the Chevrolet and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Duty Officer at the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack at (301) 392-1200.
